You tube searching...

I start this blog with the intention of discussing my fond memories of watching a Scrubs marathon years ago and talking about how good the intro theme for that show is.  Now though, after doing a bit of research I have decided to switch gears a bit, onto the internet.
Yes, the internet sort of a big target but I will try my damnedest to keep this all coherent.  You tube is filled with so many peripheral videos that can really deviate a search for specific video content.  The two searches I did today for TV theme songs prove this point.

The Scrubs theme song is an excellent song written by Lazlo Bane.  I have never heard anything from this band prior to enjoying the Scrubs theme but upon doing some research on the band I found they had sampled a drum beat from this gem by the Honey Drippers.

The original Scrubs theme is here and it is a very good intro especially dealing with the subject matter of the show.  The show had a great cast of characters that really had chemistry throughout the series.  The pairing of the show and the theme to me is brilliant.

Somehow looking for a use able video for this blog I found this awesome video.

The next theme song isn’t even that great but I did watch the show and this will tie into the wonder that is you tube.  Star Trek the Next Generation theme song was just some music with Patrick Stewart narrating.  Anyone who knows who Patrick Stewart is also is aware he has a brilliant voice for narration.  This definitively works in the favor of the intro of this show.

The real entertainment is in the videos that random individuals make and post.  The inspiration must be pretty significant for a Trekkie to post a video like this.

All I can say is I love the internet.

Two Great Theme Songs Over The Years

Tonight I am going to discuss two of the most brilliant family television shows, well the themes. They were some of the longest running sitcoms on television the Cosby show with 201 episodes and Roseanne with 196.  I watched each show change the intro theme over the years although, I never saw the original Cosby Theme until earlier today.  Both themes are instrumental.

The theme for Roseanne is the whine of a saxophone with a harmonica, which almost seemed to call my family together for an episode during the original airing of the show.  I always imagine Roseanne Barr laughing when I hear the intro music.

Although, I utterly abhor the Blues Traveler  version on season 9.  I'm not sure why but I like it without the lyrics.

The morphing theme of the Cosby show never was dull.  I really enjoyed the season in which the intro seemed like a production on Broadway only at the Apollo Theater.  The sequence was theatrical and the music was appropriate.  It is also a saxophone but in a much more jazzy tone than the Roseanne theme.

I can totally picture Bill Clinton playing this rendition of the theme on his sax. It had evolved considerably from season one.

The season one intro sounds as if it fell right out of the 70’s but it has morphed throughout the years.  An amazing fact of these theme titled “Kiss Me” was co-written by Bill Cosby and Stu Gardner.
